This time last week something very special happened in our family; “Our youngest son graduated High School!” And in just a few short months, he will be headed to college. Wow! Can you believe it? We are one step closer to being, “Empty Nesters!

The Changing of Seasons: Change can be a challenge, especially when it’s imposed on us suddenly or without our approval.  Life itself is change (but what about growth?). You may or may not have heard the quote,“Change is Inevitable, but Growth is Optional.” To that, John Maxwell then says, “Be the leader who opts in for Growth!”  I would like to submit that, when navigating the seas of change, choose to; “grow” through it, rather than just “go” through it! The choice is ultimately yours (smile). In Ecclesiastes 3:1, it says; “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”  #ChangeIsInevitable

This week we will be exploring, “Personal Growth (A Benefit of Change).”

Personal growth is the ongoing process of understanding and developing oneself in order to achieve one’s fullest potential. Personal development is a vital part in a person’s growth, maturity, success and happiness. You grow and learn new things every time something changes. You discover new insights about different aspects of your life. You learn lessons even from changes that did not lead you to where you wanted to be.

There is always an element of pain in change – even when the change is for good. Like when a new and better job in a new city means leaving friends and familiar places behind, and this is painful. Can you relate? We sure can… It was difficult for our family when we relocated (Job-Related) our family to Missouri, from Chicago. It’s for this reason people naturally avoid or put off change because they want to avoid the pain that usually accompanies change. I can tell you that beyond that change was a beautiful new beginning that brought us here.

Change (I’ve Found) is Good, and I am committed to embrace it whenever it comes. #YourPerspectiveIsKey

In general, when looking back, I realized that all the good things in my life, came as a result of changes. We may prefer to stay in our comfort zone, but I believe that once we get the courage and take the first step to change, our life will become much better.

Here is something to think about when navigating through the changing seasons (as it relates to personal growth);

  1. Write down your goals
  2. Develop a system
  3. Learn from people you admire
  4. Do work that fulfills you
  5. Help others win
  6. Be a lifelong learner
  7. Keep God first

I love you all (see you next week)…. And Remember, “Your Best Days Are Always Ahead!”
