Yes! It’s that time of the week again #TuesdayBlogRelease And I am super excited about the opportunity to share with you some Golden Nuggets, from my personal development/study time. This week, we are continuing with our study from the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” by Stephen R. Covey

Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind #GoldenNuggets #MyTakeAways

When Stephen R. Covey wrote The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in 1989, he put a spin on the idea, suggesting that individuals create their own mission statement as part of his second habit: “begin with the end in mind.”

A personal mission statement is a powerful tool because it provides you with a path for success, and it gives you permission to say no to the things that are distractions. It should also change over time. As we get older, we have more life experiences and acquire new skills.  If your mission statement doesn’t change, you risk not being relevant any more. #writeyourownscript

Questions to ask yourself when creating your personal statement;

  • What is the value you create?
  • Who are you creating it for?
  • What’s your expected outcome?

Habit 2 is based on imagination–the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice. The first is created Mentally and the second, Physically! If you don’t make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default.

My Personal Mission Statement (Business):

My favorite take-a-way from this chapter is; Create a Personal Mission Statement! Here is a rough draft of mine (with the hopes of inspiring you to began crafting yours):

“To serve as a leader in my industry, live a balanced life, and apply Biblical principles to make a significant impact in the lives of others through singing, writing and speaking (VLOGS). To love God and love others. And to be known for inspiring others to be more than they thought they could be, to inspire others to a deeper more intimate relationship with Christ . To Enjoy the journey through life (process), and to Be A LifeLong Learner #growthmindset. And to always bring out the best in others. #ironsharpensiron #MyPersonalMissionStatement #AnExampleNotTheFinishedProductYet

A Word of Encouragement:

As the 2016-2017 basketball season approaches for our family, I am reminded of this one quote; “Be the number one cheerleader in your family! Say what God says about your spouse and your children.” To Find Out What God Says About Your Family, Read His Word (The Bible).  He said that they were “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!” Psalm 139:14 #faithandfamily Side-Note: Here is a link to a video which features highlights of my son and his team for the 2015-2016 season, click here #mommymoments We are super excited, and looking forward to a Great New Season, and new opportunities to cheer him on. #GoTeam #BeYourFamilysNumberOneFan If you haven’t done so already, check out last week’s blog, which features Habit 1 #BeProactive
