Nuggets From Today’s Study;
- Simon (Peter) was awestruck at the miracle that took place in Luke 5:1-6. His first response was to feel his own insignificance in comparison to this man’s greatness (Luke 5:8-10). Peter knew that Jesus had healed the sick and driven out demons, but he was amazed that Jesus cared about his day to day routine, and understood his needs. God is interested not only in saving us but also in helping us in our daily activities.
- Launching out into the deep, is an invitation to go deeper with God. He wants us to grow deeper in our faith and trust (start that book, open that business, start that new exercise program). Jesus had a real purpose in mind when He invited Simon (Peter) to go deeper. What about you? Are you ready to launch out into the deep?
Scripture Reference:
“One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, it’s owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.
When he was finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper and let down your nets, and you will catch many fish.” “Master, Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, we’ll try again.” And this time their nets were so full they began to tear!” A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking….” (Luke 5:1-6)
