Being intentional about enjoying the life God has given us.
Life has a way of keeping us moving. Before we know it, our calendars are full, our days are spoken for, and we are already thinking about what needs to happen next. There is always something demanding our attention, something we need to get done, or something we are working toward. #selah
Even the things we enjoy can sometimes become another item on our to-do list. And before we know it, another week, month, or even year has passed. Sound familiar?
I love being productive. I enjoy setting goals, making plans, and pursuing the things the Lord has placed on my heart. But I have learned that there is just as much value in slowing down, taking a break, and enjoying the journey along the way. We should not become so consumed with everything we are trying to accomplish that we forget to embrace the moments God has given us today.
One thing I have come to appreciate is taking time away. Sometimes we need a change of scenery, a little time with our favorite people, an opportunity to laugh, celebrate, and simply enjoy one another. We need to celebrate the moments, not just the milestones.
There is something special about creating memories, enjoying a spontaneous outing, spending quality time with your spouse, or simply having a good laugh with family and friends. These moments may not make it onto our calendars as major events, but they often become some of our favorite memories.
And let’s not forget about making time for ourselves!
I have learned that showing up for yourself physically is another way of being intentional about the life God has given us. Getting in those workouts, lifting weights, taking walks, and working toward becoming stronger are investments in our well-being. Some days we are excited about it. Other days, well, let’s just say we have to encourage ourself a little more! But we keep showing up.
Taking care of ourselves should not always be something we squeeze into the leftover time. We deserve to make room for the things that strengthen us and help us enjoy life.
A Little More Joy Going Into 2027
Can you believe we are just weeks away from 2027?
It seems like only yesterday I was pulling out my planner, writing down goals, and making plans for the year ahead. Now here we are, preparing to do it all over again.
I want to be present enough to appreciate the people God has placed in my life. I want to celebrate the little victories, embrace unexpected moments, take care of myself, laugh a little more, and not always be rushing toward the next thing.
Life is not just about checking things off our lists. It is about living, loving, growing, giving, and recognizing God’s goodness along the way.
So, here’s to a little more joy, a little more laughter, a little more time away, a little more showing up for ourselves, and a whole lot more appreciation for the moments we sometimes take for granted.
Let’s not get so busy living that we forget to enjoy the journey!
And remember, the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
Now, excuse me while I go find something fun to put on my calendar!
