“Hold fast to dreams, For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly.” – Langston Hughes“
A Word of Encouragement: Find what makes you different and that is what will set you apart. You don’t have to be like everyone else to be successful, just endeavor to be the best You, you can be! There is a special plan that God has predestined that is just for you (Jeremiah 29:11). #BeSalt #BeLight #LiveYourBestLife
For me, whenever I think about my VLOGS/Blogs, Books, Music, Etc, I look toward stepping out in Faith (not trying to be like everyone else but to do the most with what the Lord has blessed me with). To Make A Difference! My hat is off to Spensha (an African-American country singer on NBC The Voice), both she, & Kyla J are Christians sharing their Faith on this platform (NBC The Voice), that the Lord has blessed them with. Daring to be different! They both inspire me. #TeamBlake
When I was younger (early 20s), I began a career in Real Estate. There were those around me doing the same, and experiencing much success, so I joined up. I was being like others that surrounded me (but in truth, I found no fulfillment there). Around that time, our church (Chicago | WCC) hosted a women’s conference entitled, “Women Working With Their Hands.” The Theme was centered around women finding creative ways to earn an income. It was there that Lord impressed upon my spirit to write (not to sale Real Estate).
I had been a published writer since the 3rd grade, but had some how (in my 20s) found my way into sales (Real Estate). That was popular at the time, but just not for me. I put pen to paper and there began a journey that would eventually lead to the writing of this blog. #myhappyplace
I have journals and journals of written works soon to be turned into books. I am excited about my future, because it is “NOT” dependent upon what everyone else is doing- but upon the call that the Lord has placed on my heart (To God Be The Glory). When I began writing books, blogs/VLOGs, no one else (around me) was doing so! Neither, when I began writing songs, and recording. You see, my voice was/is different from those around me. It’s unique, and honestly that scares me a little at times. But God, He challenged me to step out in Faith! I did and my first CD/Book literally took me around the world, and bore much fruit!
Then someone I respected encourage me to stop pursuing this (God-given dream), and go in a different direction. Because I respected that person, I listened. So at the height of everything that was happening in my life, I just stopped and went in another direction! “Oh, Wee” when I tell you be careful who you have in your ear, I mean that! That person had me trying to fit into a place that I didn’t belong in (not laying blame, just owning that decision). Goals: #RightPlace #RightTime & #UnderTheRightLeadership
Following that advice took me down a path I was not meant to go down. But Now, I’m back focusing on singing and writing again. Like Tommy Barnett said (this past weekend | COTR), “Lord, not my will but thy will be done!” #Restoration Following His lead (singing/writing). Living to please Him (God) more and more! #Fearless2018
